College Applications Process
The College Application process can be frustrating and slow at times but there are ways to make the process go a bit more smoothly.
The best advice is to PLAN AHEAD and DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!
College Application fees add up and are not refundable so do your school research early, get your materials together
and prepare ahead of time so you don't miss deadlines or send out incomplete applications.
Late applications received past the published deadlines are not honored.
Incomplete applications will delay any admission decisions and can cause you to miss out on
related admission and scholarship opportunities.
Want to go to school out of town? Try to plan a visit to the school of your choice!
Check with your School Counselor to see if others are planning to attend the same school and go on a visit as a group.
This is the best way to get information about a school and to get a feel of the location and the campus layout.
The Common App in an online application that is used by more than 600 schools throughout the United States.
Many of the schools are private institutions but some larger State Universities (including UT) will take the Common App.

The Common App website is actually very helpful and has information and tips that will apply to all college candidates and parents,
not just those who are using their application.
It includes information on how to prepare for college throughout your entire high school career.
